This distinctive specimen was found in Bush Wood north, near to the Green Man roundabout system. I suspected it may be Philodromus buxi, and sent the photograph to David Carr who thought that it might be this species.

Philodromus buxi is rare, and was thought to be extinct in Britain until it was rediscovered on a vegetated green roof in London in 2014. However, David has recorded it from nearby Wanstead Flats on two occasions in 2016.

A communication from Peter Harvey suggested that it is actually one of the many variations of the very variable Philodromus cespitum
