Hazels are scarce in the area, with one specimen near the SE corner of Bush Wood and a few on the west edge of the Ornamental Waters, near the southern arm.

In 2011 one was discovered growing by the edge of Wanstead Flats, nearly opposite the gates of the City of London Cemetery.
