Bluebells are iconic plants in Wanstead Park, mostly known to increasing numbers of people in the area near to the Temple called Chalet Wood. They have become almost too popular, with so many people nowadays visiting to see them they are suffering from trampling. The plants here, as in the Grove and Warren Wood, are almost exclusively the real English Bluebell, although at the west end of Chalet Wood there are some invasive Spanish Bluebells, which pose an hybridisation threat. |
