A surprise find in early 2011, the catkins of a small Hazel growing in the border-vegetation by Aldersbrook Road, opposite the Cemetery Superintendent's house.

This is the first specimen of Hazel to be found on Wanstead Flats, the nearest other known being a single tree in Bush Wood.
