This Four-spotted Chaser Libellula quadrimaculata landed conveniently near me as I was photographing dragonflies at the west end of Heronry Pond.

I didn't realise it ws this species at the time, asuming perhaps it was a Broad-bodied Chaser, as I haven't knowingly seen one of these before.

According to "The Dragonflies of Essex" by Ted Benton and John Dobson, this species appears on F.A. Walker's 1897 list for Wanstead Park.
