Pied Flycatchers are a lot less common than Spotted Flycatchers in the area, and there is a suggestion that this photograph may actually be of a Spotted. The barred-appearance to the head is not typical of a Pied, but the stance, the darker colouring of the wings and the bars on the wings are more like those of a Pied. Pied Flycatchers certainly do occur, however, so it was thought relevant to put this picture in. |
