This pleasant little plant can be found growing out of walls in a number of streets in our area.

Its relatively local historical interest is that it was first introduced into England by the gardener and botanist John Ray who lived from 1560-1627. From his garden at Stubbers in North Ockendon, the plant has spread over much of Britain.
