On the pear tree in my neighbour's garden.

This fungal rust causes the orange spots seen in the photograph. It attacks both pears and junipers, and requires both to complete its full life-cycle.

Until recently it was rarely recorded in the UK, although common in Europe. However, it is now becoming more widespread.

2015 was the first year that I have noticed it.
