Over perhaps the last ten years (as of 2018) numbers of Greylag Geese have increased and appear to be doing so annually, particularly around Alexandra Lake. They still do not outnumber the Canada Geese, but are a significant and common presence and easily co-exist. Individuals of the two species have been seen to "pair up", going around as a couple, and hybrid offspring are sometimes seen.
